I was recently contacted by a fellow Flickrite, Sophie Addison, about including one of my photos in a book that was being put together. The sales profits for the book are being donated to the Super Cities Walk for MS.
The photo that was included in the book is my Parrots of Telegraph Hill shot.

The photo was included in the first edition (page 32), which is 7″ x 7″, and also the second edition (page 32) which is 10″ x 8″. I’m waiting for my copy of the second edition to arrive.
Sophie put the preview of the book into her photostream. The first edition is here, and the second edition is here.

ShareI was not very shocked to read this article, Bay Area Rents Outpace Pay. The easiest part of where we live is the fact that we don’t own a car, so we aren’t usually directly subjected to the up-and-down nature of gas prices. The flip side of that problem is that when gas prices go up, so does everything else and that’s where we feel the pain. It wasn’t that long ago that I would pay $2.00 for a gallon of milk, now that gallon is $4.49.

I really want to get my photography business of the ground, however due to the sad state of affairs in our economy I haven’t done that. I look around if I can’t afford any extra toys, who can? Do you feel like you are being left behind like the shoe above?

This flag has special meaning. It belongs to my father-in-law, John, who served in Vietnam. The flag is placed outside first thing in the morning, and taken in at dusk. Its a strong reminder to me of our country’s past.
